With their queer book club and doing the occasional favor for a friend, not to mention their meddling family, life is full - and thankfully, there's no dead body in the mix.

That is, until their friend Deke calls them, frantic. Lou isn't expecting the reason for that Deke's ex-girlfriend, now very much dead. Lou believes Deke is innocent, but they're sure the local cops will see things differently. But, they're sure Officer Matthias Lindert, even if he is too good looking for Lou's own good, but so not interested in them, will do the right thing.

Until he's taken off the case.

With Deke at the top of the cops' suspect list, Lou needs to find out what really happened, no matter what trouble it brings them. All they know is there is no way they will let their friend get put away for something they know he would never do.

They're exploring their new relationship and preparing to spend the holidays with their families. They're nervous about how to fit the pieces of those families together and if they might end up cutting against the grain. But, surely nothing can really go wrong.

Until their tough-as-nails sister calls them in a near-panic. Her neighbor is dead, and his wife, Cailyn's friend, looks like the perfect suspect. Cailyn says absolutely no way, and begs Lou to help, even though that puts them on the opposite side of their boyfriend. But, something about the whole thing feels very wrong to Lou, and they aren't sure even Matt is able to see that.

But, as they investigate, everything seems to be knotted together and danger starts to close in. The victim may have deserved his fate, and any one of the suspects could have done it. When a second victim appears, Cailyn's friend is cleared, but Lou is...

And they are going to prove it.

And hopefully it won't throw a wrench in everything they're building.

A job well done and a nice cold beer after that job. The once a week meetings with the queer book club they founded with their best friend, Cordelia. Their family...in small doses. Seeing the chance to expand their business, Jax of All Trade. What they don't like can be narrowed down more: bills, bullies, and oh yeah, stumbling over a dead body while on a job. Brenten Olver may have made an art form of bullying even beyond high school, but that didn't mean he'd deserved to have his head bashed in.
Lou is the first one Coalville police officer Matthias Lindert seems to look to when the body turns up. Not only were they the one to discover the body, but everyone knows about the argument the two of them had right there for all to see on Main Street.
Lou needs to prove their innocence if they're going to get him off their back. They'd much rather have him on his back. But, at best, he seems indifferent to them. Of course, at worst, he thinks...

That dream dies when he returns home to find his father dying and the farm burning. Knowing who is responsible, another dream forms; getting revenge for everything that has been taken from him.

Eamonn O'Fearell does not love being a farmer's son. What he does love: games of chance, words, chasing after lasses, and even other lads. None of that matters, though, when he returns to find everything he'd known, but his brother, gone. And if his brother has his way, Eamonn may lose him as well.

Bridgette Muldoon does not want for much in her life. Her family may not be wealthy, but they do have love, and to her, that's more than enough.
